Golden Ratio Robots
Good day, we are Golden Ratio Robotics, a FTC robotics team representing three different Illinois schools. FTC stands for First Tech Challenge which is one of four robotics competitions run by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). We are a World’s competing FTC team and recently competed in Houston against the best teams from 58 countries. Our team has been competing for nine years and the current team is the second generation of The Golden Ratio. This year, we had the honor of showing our robots to thousands of professionals at the PACK EXPO at McCormick Place in Chicago. We had a great time and were successful in learning about many companies and spreading the word about FIRST.
At PACK EXPO, our team shared a booth with an FRC team which is another one of FIRST’s robotics competitions. At our half of the booth, we showed off four of our robots. Two of these robots were from our previous competitions, one from last year and one from three years ago. The three-year-old robot is able to pick up and place blocks while the one-year-old robot is able to pick up and place an item called a pixel, launch a paper airplane, and then it is able to hold itself up on a bar. We drove around the competition robots to show what we have made in the past. The other two robots we brought were for professionals and attendees to drive around a mini racecourse and a jump we brought. The robots overall seemed like a big hit with all attendees, and it was a great experience which we hope to be able to attend in years to come again.
The PMMI Foundation generously donated money to our team for the expenses to stay in Chicago for a night and for transportation to PACK EXPO. With these funds, our team had an eventful night hanging out and having fun before the PACK EXPO.With the funds we received from being student exhibitors, we purchased 25 STEMkits to inspire younger students for a holiday toy drive.
Thank you PMMI for having us at such a great event and if anyone has any questions about our team, FIRST, or our community outreach feel free to reach out to us at goldenratiorobotics@gmail.com.
Sincerely, The Golden Ratio
